Because no one asked, here are my lists for Best and Worst films of 2019 (out of the films that I saw). Before we start, here are the Top 10 Films (released in the U.S. in 2019) that I have yet to see 1).  CATS - I'll check this trainwreck out when it shows up on some streaming platform 2).  BOOKSMART - I'm told by everyone that has seen it that it is TERRIFIC 3).  THE LAST BLACK MAN IN SAN FRANCISCO - Universally praised by the National Critics that I have respect for 4).  FROZEN II - Because...well...it's Frozen II! 5).  THE CURRENT WAR - How can a film about the Edison/Tesla feud in the late 1800's and starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Michael Shannon be bad?  I dunno, but I have yet to find out 6).  MOTHERLESS BROOKLYN - A  1920's gangster film with Bruce Willis and an overacting Edward Norton?  How did I miss this one? 7).  MISSING LINK - I'm a sucker for stop-motion animation 8).  MALEFICENT: MISTRESS OF EVIL -  I mean...I kind of liked the first one... 9).  JUST MERCY - Released at the tail end of the year to (perhaps) catch some Oscars love, this one got lost in the shuffle 10).  21 BRIDGES - Chadwick Boseman cop/action/thriller.  I've gone to worse Here now are the 10 Worst films, starting with the "Best of the Worst" at #-10 and working our way up (or down) to the Worst Film that I saw of the films that were released in 2019. -10).  HUSTLERS - Jennifer Lopez deserved an Oscar nomination for this mess?  I don't think so. -9).  GEMINI MAN - Will Smith battling a CGI younger version of himself where the CGI just didn't quite work right. -8).  ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL - This one might have worked had the CGI Alita character not look so weird -7).  MEN IN BLACK: INTERNATIONAL - Not a bad film, just nothing new, so a movie that was not needed. -6).  AD ASTRA - What a boring and pretentious waste of time -5).  GLASS - Failed to deliver on the promise of SPLIT -4).  DARK PHOENIX - Buried the X-Men franchise...what a sad way for it to end. -3).  DUMBO - Dumbo in name only - not even close to the beloved animated classic. -2).  RAMBO: LAST BLOOD - Not really a Rambo film, but a standard action/revenge flick that they tacked on the Rambo name. And the worst 2019 released film that I saw was.. -1).  HELLBOY - What a waste of material, talent...and my time. And now...here are the 10 BEST films of 2019... 10).  UNCUT GEMS - Adam Sandler should have been nominated for an Oscar 9).   FORD v. FERRARI - I enjoyed this film more than most, mainly because of the chemistry between Matt Damon and Christian Baile.  And the car racing wasn't bad, either. 8).  JOHN WICK CHAPTER 3: PARABELLUM - Can't wait for John Wick 4! 7).  US - Liked it better than Jordan Peele's other horror classic, GET OUT. 6).  TOY STORY 4 - This one has become my favorite of ALL the Toy Story films (and I liked every one of them very much) 5).  JOJO RABBIT - Funny and touching - walks a fine line very well. 4).  AVENGERS: ENDGAME - Can't remember the last time I had that much fun in the movies. 3).  PARASITE - A deserving Oscar winner - it is truly unique and original.  See it in Korean with subtitles. 2).  ONCE UPON A TIME... IN HOLLYWOOD - One of Quentin Tarantino's finest works.  Brad Pitt certainly earned his Oscar. And now...drumroll please...my favorite film of THE 2019 releases is... 1).  1917 - Sam Mendes WW 1 epic is the "Saving Private Ryan" of World War I - it also has the "we came in 2nd at the Oscars" vibe that Saving Private Ryan has.   And that should put a button on the 2019 movie year.  Thanks for following along...now time to get working on my 2020 list. And you can take these lists to the Bank(OfMarquis)
