An intriguing - and diverse - list of films are up for Best Picture. Here is how I would rate them: 8). BOHEMIAM RHAPSODY - A really, really good (not great) lead performance in a *meh* film. 7). BLACK PANTHER - not even my favorite superhero of the year (I liked AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and SPIDERMAN: INTO THE SPIDERVERSE better). But a wonderful achievement for being nominated nonetheless. 6). THE FAVOURITE - 3 really terrific performances (especially Rachel Weisz) in a interesting and intriguing black comedy/period piece. 5). VICE - Christian Bale, in my favorite performance of the year, elevates this film from good to very, very good. 4). BLACK KkKLANSMAN - Spike Lee delivered a powerful film in typical Spike fashion. I would be fine with any one of these last 3 winning the Oscar... 3). ROMA - Alfonso Cuaron delivers a beautifully shot, heartfelt film that WILL WIN the Oscar. 2). GREENBOOK - My biggest surprise at the movies this year. I was ready to roll my eyes at this film, but instead, I was charmed by it. 1). A STAR IS BORN - Director Bradley Cooper delivers a masterpiece in storytelling and in spectacle, pulling deep, heart-wrenching performances from Sam Elliott, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper and is the film that I think SHOULD WIN the Oscar this year. I hope you've enjoyed reading my picks, I will see you at the Oscars and you can take these picks to the Bank(ofMarquis)
