BEST (and WORST) FILMS OF 2025
The BankofMarquis caught over 50 films that were released in 2025 - here are the Best (and the Worst) of them…
FILMS I HAVE YET TO SEE (so they won’t be on the either list):
ZOOTOPIA 2
SISU: ROAD TO REVENGE
NOW YOU SEE ME: NOW YOU DON’T
IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT
EDEN
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON (Live Action)
HEDDA
SNOW WHITE (Live Action)
THE ROSES
SPINAL TAP II: THE END CONTINUES
WORST FILMS OF 2025:
5). THE WOMAN IN CABIN 10 - Interesting book, uninteresting movie.
4). FRANKENSTEIN - Interesting visually, dull as heck story and character-wise.
3). THE RUNNING MAN - The worst of a very weak crop of Stephen King adaptation/remakes.
2). STAR TREK: SECTION 31 - It was going to be a new TV Series until no one had any good ideas of what to do with this premise.
1). HONEY DON’T - Repeating his “championship” from last year with DRIVE AWAY DOLLS, Joel Coen proves that he is the worse of the 2 Coen brothers as there is only 1 thing to say to someone who is thinking of watching this turkey - “Honey, Don’t”.
THE BEST OF 2025 (HONORABLE MENTIONS)
15). NUREMBERG - Russell Crowe proves he can still command a screen
14). K-POP DEMON HUNTERS - Had more fun watching this than I thought I would, but couldn’t help thinking that perhaps I was not the target audience for this.
13). IF I HAD LEGS I’D KICK YOU - Rose Byrne with the 2nd Best Lead Actress performance of the year.
12). HAMNET - Jessie Buckley with the BEST Lead Actress performance of this (and many) years)
11). PREDATOR: BADLANDS - Surprisingly original despite that fact that this was the 6th (or 8th if you count the Predator/Aliens crossovers) Predator film.
THE TOP 10
10). TRAIN DREAMS - Gorgeous Cinematography and the gentle story touched my heart.
9). BUGONIA - Lanthimos, Stone, Plemons (who should have been Oscar nominated). Weird. I Loved it
8). WEAPONS - Best Horror Film in ages. Amy Madigan earned her Oscar.
7). THE PHOENICIAN SCHEME - The Best Wes Anderson film since THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL.
6). THUNDERBOLTS* - A fun SuperHero flick with it’s tongue firmly in it’s cheek.
5). BALLERINA - An attempt to reboot the John Wick series without John Wick (or with John Wick barely there). It worked well.
4). SINNERS - Deserves every accolade it received.
3). SENTIMENTAL VALUE - The biggest surprise of the “Oscar Homework” viewing.
2). BLACK BAG - The Best film to be nominated for NO Oscars. Check out this spy/espionage/whoddunit/thriller starring Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett and Directed by Steven Soderbergh, you’ll be glad you did
1). ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER - The academy got this right. The Best Film the BankofMarquis has seen in many a year.
